The FFUSA Giveback Program allows qualifying organizations to generate revenue on an ongoing basis with little effort and no cost. At the heart of this exciting fundraising program is the process by which all businesses that accept credit cards can now elect to direct a portion of their merchant fees directly to a non-profit of their choice.
It all started when John Eliason, FFUSA President, was involved in a local civic group fundraising committee…the hot topics being budgets and fundraising. Eliason recalls, "I felt that either this organization needed a significant number of new contributing members or it needed additional ways to generate revenue without having to ask existing members to invest more time or money. I asked myself, 'What can this organization do right now that takes very little time and produces the revenue needed?'"
The answer came a few days later when Eliason overheard staff members at FFUSA discussion a conversation with a non-profit client…and that's when it clicked. "Our company just happens to be in the unique position to offer such a program... I'm sure that anyone in our shoes would have done the same. I'm just glad we can help. With positive response from nonprofits and their supporters, I believe we can redirect over $1 million annually back to civic organizations, non-profits, and charities and at the same time raise awareness for their causes…and who knows, maybe they’ll pick up a few more members or supporters in the process," commented Eliason.
How does it work? All merchants pay a fee to accept and turn plastic (Visa, MasterCard, Amex, Discover) to cash. FFUSA simply donates a portion of that fee to approved participating non-profit organizations. By participating in FFUSA's GiveBack Program, FFUSA makes ongoing monthly contributions to your organization based on the number of active merchant supporters, and monthly dollar volume of transactions accepted by those supporting merchants.
The more merchants listing your organization as the recipient for donations through the GiveBack, the more donations you receive every month. An FFUSA representative can meet with members of your organization, explain how GiveBack works, and take the steps to set up the accounts.
